Value Banners, Up! (and instructions)

So for my 10 hour Personal Progress project, I crafted and hung the value banners in our room. It makes a HUGE difference in our YW room, giving it that touch of color and a reminder of what each value represents. (And yes, that is the size of our room!) The plan is that each month we will highlight a different value and read it’s scripture in our opening exercises [...]

Book of Mormon Reading Chart

Thanks to a lovely suggestion from a reader, I’ve designed a Book of Mormon reading chart. This isn’t your traditional chart, it’s a massive flower with each pedal representing a chapter in the Book of Mormon. Yep, that image above is what the finished chart looks like! Fun huh? Same rules apply as always for using this: 1) leave a comment saying where you’re from! 2) use it and respect [...]

Scripture Study Handout (Lesson #27)

Here is a handout that I gave to my girls last week on scripture study. I also printed out the value bookmarks for the new girls that arrived after New Beginnings (I gave out the bookmarks at New Beginnings, also available in Spanish). Hope it adds that extra bit of oomph to your already wonderful lesson. There’s a preview above, but be sure to click on the pdf link below [...]

Prayer Pillow

Do you remember Prayer Rocks? You know the rock that you would paint the word “prayer” on and then put on your pillow? The idea being that when you layed your head down at night you’d nearly knock yourself unconscious and then you would remember to pray. So you’d pray, and put the rock on the floor. And then in the morning you’d stub your toe and while you were [...]

Activity Night Banner Tutorial

Here is a tutorial for making your own YW Theme banners that your girls can hang in their room at home. Very easy to do and counts for Personal Progress! My Young Women enjoyed this activity very much, and even posed for photos! They are good sports. ;)

YW Theme :: Foam core finishing option

Here is how my mom finished her YW theme (she’s a YW president in Idaho), it turned out great and was oh so simple so I thought I’d share. Note, that is flowery wallpaper in the background. What you need: a large piece of black foam core (the big black stiff boards you can get at any craft store) pink ribbon to match the theme letters spray adhesive (super 77 [...]

No-Sew Finished Banner option (updated!)

Here is a tutorial on how to have your fabric banner ready-to-hang in 30 minutes (1 hour with the glue drying), without a sewing machine and for under $5. Great for a YW activity with the small personal banners. This is the method I used for my own theme shown here: Supplies for large banner (supplies are a little smaller for the small banners): 2 wooden dowels (8mm or 1/4 [...]

Help! The edge is tiny on my theme how do I hem it?

When the fabric came back from the printers I realised that the themes were printed very close together which meant a little extra creativity was needed to hem the edges. But it’s a simple and easy fix so here’s how you do it: zig-zag the edges first, this helps prevent the fraying and makes it so you only need a small edge to turn under Iron the edge when you [...]
